Nous suivre au Cameroun

Coucou vous tous !!
Avec les nouvelles photos en ligne, vous pouvez avoir une idée de notre nouvel appartement que nous apprécions énormément. Regardez aussi la belle vue depuis notre fenêtre : on habite dans la forêt !
Vous avez aussi quelques images d'un WE à la mer, passé pendant que ma Maman était là, et oui, nous avons eu la chance d'avoir sa visite pendant une semaine début avril, et grâce à elle, nous avons eu des nouvelles fraîches de toute la famille.

Toutes les autres photos décrivent mon premier voyage sur le terrain, dans l'extrême Sud du Cameroun, à la frontrière avec la Guinée Equatoriale. Depuis le 3 avril, je travaille dans une structure camerounaise pour mettre en place un projet d'accompagnement socio économique. Il va y avoir un barrage hydroélectrique dans une zone extrêment enclavée, et très démunie. Comment est-ce que ce projet peut-être une chance pour les gens ? Nous sommes partis quelques jours là-bas pour établir un diagnostic de la situation. J'ai voyagé avec mes collègues, la seule femme, et la seule non camerounaise ! C'était une expérience incroyable : plusieurs jours en brousse, sans téléphone, sans télé, sans électricité, sans eau courante, sans radio... J'ai mangé du crocodile pour la première fois de ma vie !! Je me suis très bien entendu avec mon équipe de travail, et me suis sentie très bien accueillie par les villageois. Ce fut très intéressant pour moi de découvrir un tout nouveau mode de vie. Nous avons par exemple assisté à une réunion entre les chefs traditionnels et les notables d'un canton, pour définir ensemble les priorités du projet. Nous préparons maintenant un atelier pour présenter notre diagnostic à la population. Je vais donc sans doute retourner là-bas d'ici la fin du mois. C'est une très belle région.

Donc voilà, je travaille beaucoup, et suis heureuse d'apprendre autant !

Arnaud travaille à une publication de sa thèse, et passe donc ses journées derrière son ordinateur. Il est confiant. Il a fêté le 1er mai avec ses collègues : échange de cadeau surprises, sports, cocktail...

Voilà un peu les nouvelles des Blanchards du Cameroun !!

My dear Anglophones !
Fisrt of all, I really apologise for not having translated the previous messages. I'm back to an intense work rythm, now that I have a new job, and have very little spare time. I'm starting with the English now, so that I'm sure you'll have updated information about our life in Cameroon !
So, with the photos I just put on line, you can have an idea of our new flat, which we do appreciate a lot, as well as the wonderful view we have from our living room. You can see that we live in the forest !
You have a few images of a Week End by the sea, that we spent while my mother was here. We were very lucky to have her visit for a week early April. It was good to have news from the whole family through her.


All the other photos describe my first trip on the field, in the extreme South of Cameroon, very close to Equatorial Guinea. Since April the 3rd, I'm working in a Cameroonian office, to set up a socio economic accompanying project. There is going to be a dam in the area, to improve the electricity production of the country. The area is extremely poor and isolated. How can this project be a real chance for the population ? We went there for a few days, to establish a diagnosis of the situation. I traveled with my colleagues, the only woman, the only non-Cameroonian ! It was quite an experience : we spent several days in the bush, no phone, no TV, no electricity, no radio, no running water. I tasted crocodile for the fist time of my life !!! I got along very well with my work team, and felt very welcome by the villagers. It was extremely interesting for me to discover a totally new way of life. We are now preparing a workshop to present our diagnosis to the population, so I'm going back there by the end of the month.

So I'm working a lot, happy to learn so much !
Arnaud is working on a publication of his Ph D thesis, and spending days behind his computer. He's confident. He celebrated the 1st of May with his colleagues : suprise gifts, sports, cocktail.
